Education and Transportation of Handicapped Children Program

The Education and Transportation of Handicapped Children Program is a Federal and State mandated program that provides appropriate therapeutic and educational services for children three to five years of age. To qualify for services the child’s disability must impact on their educational learning. Eligibility is determined through a multi-disciplinary evaluation process and services are approved based upon the needs of the child as recommended by their School District ’s Committee of Preschool Special Education.

Educational services that may be approved include speech, physical, and occupational therapies, special education itinerant teachers and special education classroom programs. To refer a child for Preschool Special Education Services, a family should contact their school district and ask for the Committee on Preschool Special Education Chairperson.
