Progress in Eight Year Review of

AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS in HERKIMER COUNTY

January 2003

Under the State Agriculture & Markets Law (Article 25-AA as amended), agricultural districts are established by the county for a period of eight years following review of the proposal by state agencies and approval by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets (A&M). In the seventh year, the Commissioner of A&M instructs the county to commence eight year review to determine whether the district should be continued unchanged for another eight year term, modified to add or delete land, or terminated. In most cases, land is added or deleted, changes in ownership are noted, and the district is continued for eight more years. Herkimer County Districts 2 and 3 will be renewed in 2003.
