facilities include 45 miles of interceptor sewers ranging from 12
inches to 66 inches in diameter, the Sauquoit Creek and the Barnes
Avenue Pumping Stations and the Oneida County Water Pollution
Control Plant (WPCP). The
WPCP is situated on a 24-acre site on Albert E. Schuler Memorial Highway, Leland Avenue Extension, in
Utica . |

The WPCP
is the 4th largest facility of its kind in upstate
New York
and the 17th largest in the state. The WPCP has an
operating capacity of 48 million gallons per day (MGD) utilizing
nitrification as an advanced secondary treatment process and 53
MGD using standard secondary treatment.
The
Sauquoit Creek Pumping Station and the Barnes Avenue Pumping
Station have the capacity to pump 15 mgd and 1.5 mgd,
respectively, to the WPCP.
