COUNTY
EXECUTIVE ANNOUNCES |
|
| Oneida County Executive Ralph J.
Eannace, Jr. announced today that the Mohawk Valley is enjoying the lowest unemployment
level on record. The data was reported in the latest edition of "Employment in
New York State" published by the New York State Department of Labor, Division of
Research and Statistics. Eannace said, "This presents us with new challenges and opportunities, such as helping people looking for better career opportunities and recruiting our young people to stay in the area and help us invite others. Together we will continue our economic recovery." The report stated "The region's unemployment rate continued to decline as new hiring in construction and trade helped push the jobless rate down to 4.6% in May. The unemployment rate was at its lowest level on record and both private sector and total nonfarm employment were at record levels in May". |
