COUNTY EXECUTIVE CALLS FOR HELP TO DEAL WITH GRIFFISS HOUSING Oneida County Executive Ralph J. Eannace Jr. announced today plans to form a committee to create an action plan for the development or disposition of Griffiss housing units. Since the United States Air Force ceased operations at Griffiss in Rome, the Griffiss Local Development Corporation and the community has worked diligently to redevelop the Business Park and currently are looking at options for the airfield. However, the County Executive said the two housing tracts have been somewhat ignored, until now. "We are looking for volunteers, especially from the community to participate on this committee which will direct us in the assessment of our options," Eannace said. "We need to consider redevelopment or disposition of those housing units." XXX |
