Eannace: Oct. 30th ‘Partnership Fair’ Oneida County Executive Ralph J. Eannace, Jr. and Workforce Investment Board Executive Director John Holt today announced that partners of the region’s workforce community will hold a "Partnership Fair" on Tuesday, October 30th, from 9 a.m. to Noon and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Working Solutions Rome One-Stop, 252 West Dominick Street in Rome. "There are always many questions when layoffs strike. The ‘Partnership Fair’ is designed to help employees and their families get the answers they need," Eannace said. "On Tuesday, information will be available about educational and training options open to employees who may want to explore new directions in their lives. We will also be holding workshops about credit management, health insurance alternatives and coping with all the emotional stress of job loss. This event is also a good time for employees to learn about the Resource Room and other features at the Rome One-Stop to help job seekers." Workshops on health insurance and coping with job loss will be held throughout the "Partnership Fair." The credit management workshops are scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; and 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. "The Rapid Response Unit of the New York State Department of Labor has done a great job of working with employees," said Holt. "The Department of Labor has coordinated information sessions for employees at USAir and Oneida Ltd. who are losing their jobs. This event builds upon that foundation to let the employees and their families know about the wide range of services provided by our partners in our One-Stop centers. Through these partners, families may wish to tap into services they never knew were available." The One-Stop System’s partnerships offer workers affected by layoffs, and all other job seekers in the region, unprecedented assistance and information, said Oneida County Workforce Development Director David Mathis. Employers also have resources they never had before, he said. "No single agency can offer the depth of support, services and information that is available at our One-Stops," he said. "The One-Stops put all these resources at the disposal of people looking for work and employers looking at these difficult times as an opportunity to add the experienced workers they need." "These are uncertain economic times," said Holt. "Some segments of our economy, such as health care, have shortages. Others are not adding employees. The One-Stop System has the cooperative partnerships and trained staff to help our area residents make informed career decisions and understand what support they might receive if they need to acquire new skills." The Working Solutions consortium includes the following partners in the
tri-county region’s One-Stop Centers. Not all partners are at every
