County Executive Joseph A. Griffo today addressed students attending the annual DWI-Traffic Safety Sponsored event held at Mohawk Valley Community College

The event aimed at raising awareness of DWI related issues as well as safe driving is part of a three day event where over 1000 local high school students would attend. The event was organized under the direction of Oneida County STOP DWI administrator Mike Colangelo.

County Executive Griffo noted that in today’s world DWI related accidents as well as speed and unsafe driving related accidents are easily avoidable.

“You are all entering a point in your life where the decisions you make today will have lasting affects on your life. Whether it is deciding what college to attend, or what classes you will take to deciding to be a designated driver or following safe driving practices on the roads, what you decide will affect you and those around you.”

Griffo also noted the outstanding work of the Oneida County STOP DWI/Traffic Safety department who are among the best in the state, and the work of program administrator Mike Colangelo.

“These are issues that we would rather not have to deal with them, however we are proud that our STOP DWI department continues to further educate the public and hold accountable those who decide to drink and drive and put not only themselves, but innocent people in harms way.”
