Griffo Issues State, Federal Regional Relief Contacts
For Oneida County Residents With Flood Damage

Oneida County Executive Joseph A. Griffo today advised Oneida County residents who suffered property damage at their homes or businesses due to the recent massive flooding that struck Upstate New York to contact agencies as soon as possible to begin the process of getting assistance.

“We have seen a swift response from our state and federal officials in declaring this a disaster area, but we know that the process of filing claims and seeking compensation for damages is not one that happens overnight,” Griffo said. “I urge every Oneida County resident with damage to make it a top priority now to make these contacts:

New York State: Call 888-769-7243 for information on state-funded relief efforts.

Federal Emergency Management Agency: Call 800-621-3362 for information on what to do for federal assistance.

Griffo also noted that the Regional Disaster Relief Center set up at the Herkimer County BOCES in East Herkimer will serve Oneida County residents as well.

“Due to the major devastation suffered by so many people in Herkimer County, the regional center has been located there,” Griffo said. “However, this center can serve Oneida County residents, and I urge everyone who needs to have face-to-face meetings or to start filling out forms to get to the center as soon as possible.”

Griffo said that further information about relief contacts will be made available as Oneida County receives it from state and federal officials.
