Oneida County Residents Urged Board of Elections Commissioners Patricia Ann DiSpirito and Angela Pedone Longo and Oneida County Executive Joseph A. Griffo today urged Oneida County residents to participate in the democratic process by signing up for training to become election inspectors. Oneida County Board of Elections will be holding training classes for persons wishing to serve as Election Inspectors for the upcoming primary and general elections. Classes will be held at various locations across Oneida County during the month of June. Candidates will be paid a $25 fee for completing the training course, which will include an examination based on the material presented. “Operating an election is more complex than just lining up to vote, so we put extra effort into helping train elections inspectors who can provide service to the people and also ensure that everything is done in a fair manner,” said Republican Elections Commission Patricia Ann DiSpirito. “Training is an important part of our efforts to provide inspectors with the understanding they need to oversee elections and help voters with issues that often come up in both primary elections and general elections,” said Democratic Elections Commission Angela Pedone Longo. “Elections are the cornerstone of our government and fair, well-run and efficient elections are one of the most important parts of our democratic process,” Griffo said. “The Board of Elections is doing a great job at reaching out the community, and I hope we get a great response. I also urge local employers to make it an option for their employees to serve as elections inspectors without using vacation time as a means of increasing public service.” For further information and to sign up for a training class, contact the Oneida County Board of Election at 315-798-5761 or 315-798-5763 |
