NEWS RELEASE The Rome office of the Oneida County Department of Motor Vehicles will move to 301 West Dominick Street on Thursday March 8, 2001. The Office will be closed on Wednesday the 7th and will open in its new location on Thursday March 8th. Oneida County Clerk Richard Allen has worked with the DMV staff to make sure that the move from 1249 Erie Boulevard site it has occupied since July of 1990 will be with as little customer disruption as possible. Clerk Allen stressed that he was "committed to making sure that we continue to offer friendly and efficient customer service." He went on to say that the move to the "new location will help fill the expanding needs of the county in the most cost effective manner possible. This move will help the Clerk’s Office save money by cutting down on the amount of dollars spent on leasing space. It will also benefit the Rome business district by bringing people downtown." This site was picked by a site committee formed by County Executive Ralph J. Eannace last year. The county bought the 25,000 square foot building last year from the Rome Sentinel Company. The 301 building will also house offices of Rome Family Court and Social Services. |
