HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS TRAIN FOR MOSQUITO TESTING
The staff’s annual summer mosquito monitoring and surveillance includes the collection and identification of mosquito habitat, specific mosquito species and trapping methods for adults and larvae. This training will enable Oneida County Health officials to capture and identify mosquitoes that are known to transmit diseases. The recent heavy rains and flooding have created an environment for increased mosquito populations. The increased mosquito conditions may increase people’s discomfort when working or playing outdoors. Sites for mosquito trapping and surveillance have been pre-determined by the state and the county. For information about this hands-on training, contact County Health official Sean Clive at (315) 798-5064. |
